The initiative of the ruling party regarding elimination of limits on election of one and the same person as a president for more than twice envisions improvement of human rights, of each paragraph beginning with article 12 of the Constitution, which says that the highest goal of the state is provision of citizens rights and so on, said Rabiyat Aslanova, chairman of Standing Parliamentary Commission on Human Rights.

"Now we are improving these rights and thus each person is provided with good living conditions. There are many other issues, including municipalities, protection of human rights, freedom of faith and so on and in the future it will create conditions for broadening all of these rights.

It should be noted that any adopted law is a challenge of the contemporary world, challenge of the society and of the time and naturally considering all these moments we must not introduce changes but improve. We do not adopt a new Constitution, we are just improving it", said she.

Asked whether the Constitution had contained shortages before, she said the issue is based on the will of the Azerbaijani citizens.

"The Constitution is a main law of the country and people's will must be taken into consideration", said she.

According to her, all people want it.

"During the recent election campaign, as a plenipotentiary representative of the president I was in different regions and heard this demand in all places. This is a demand of Azerbaijani citizens. It has not come from outside. The Yeni Azerbaijan party voiced and executes the dream of millions of voters. This is spoken of everywhere, we can hear it on TV, in the streets, during the election campaign. The opinion of the citizens coincide: if a deputy can be elected for more than twice, why shouldn't this principle be applied in the presidency institution? In other words, we are doing it for the further improvement of this institution and not a definite person is implied here. It is all done for future", said she and added that each person has a right to be elected for several times while people have a right to choose and people will make their choice. "If a person is worthy of being reelected, he will be reelected. Otherwise, he will not be elected even for once".
