On 23 December Leader of Azerbaijan Liberal Party, Prof. Dr. Lala Shevket has met with the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby, Belgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Philippe Jottard, Head of Section Neighbourhood Policy - Operations of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Counsellor Jean-Louis Lavroff and EU Special Representative Office Political Advisor Claire Delessard.
A wide range of issues has been discussed during the meeting including the geopolitical situation in the region and the world, socio-political situation in Azerbaijan, problems with democracy and human rights in the country, fate of political prisoners, opposition's plans after the 2008 presidential election, fulfilment by Azerbaijan of its obligations undertook in accordance with the "European Neighbourhood Policy", as well as relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
