The first term of Ilham Aliyev's presidency can, undoubtedly, be called successful in all senses, said famous Russian political scientist Zurab Todua in his interview to Day.Az.

According to him, Azerbaijan had five years of political stability for the first time in its modern history beginning from 1991.

"Through this period, the country has made a strong economic rush. Azerbaijan started to gain more from oil contracts, which allow it to raise expenses for social needs, hold large scale construction, develop transport infrastructure and conduct reforms in different economic spheres. The welfare of the greatest part of the country's population has improved", said Todua and added that people bind it all with the current leadership.

"Therefore, it is not surprising that they do not want to go back to the uneasy 1990s and do not want the time of distress", said he.
