Presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held in democratic and free conditions, considers head of Azerbaijani delegation in PACE Samed Seidov, according to Interfax-Azerbaijan.
"We are taking all necessary measures to hold presidential elections in democratic and free conditions. We are completely ready for elections", said Seidov Tuesday during the meeting with PACE observation mission.
He said that conduction of democratic elections is one of the commitments, assumed by Azerbaijan in the Council of Europe. He noted that Azerbaijan has fulfilled all of its commitments before the Council of Europe.
"But there are some issues, which take time and they find their solution within a time period", said Seidov.
In turn, head of the PACE observation mission Andres Herkel voiced suspicions about the lack of competitive conditions among presidential elections. As an example, he listed boycotting of presidential elections by a part of opposition parties.
Yet, Seidov disagreed with this opinion, noting that equal conditions were created for all candidates.
"The political parties, which do not believe in their own powers, do not take part in the elections", noted Seidov.
