"Owing to GUAM Azerbaijan is able to cooperate closely with its member-states".

The due announcement was made by spokesman for Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Khazar Ibragim.

He also commented on Moldova's plans to quit the organizations, saying that there is a definite procedure for both joining and quitting the organization. Asked whether GUAM will weaken if Moldova quits it, he said the organization may lose weak members and acquire stronger ones.

Khazar Ibragim stressed the importance of the organization for implementation of a number of economic projects, favorable not only for its member-states but also for its partners.

GUAM's prospects lie in its contribution to democratic development, to the development of European transport corridors and development of economic cooperation, between the countries, joining it".

He also said that GUAM was not established for the just settlement of Nagorno-Karabalh conflict.

"At the same time, naturally, GUAM, which has Azerbaijan as its member-state, takes definite decision, promoting the fair resolution of both Armenian-Azerbaijan conflict and other "frozen conflicts" on the territories of its member-states.

One of the examples of GUAM's activity in this direction is an inclusion of the discussion of the situation with "frozen" conflicts on the territory of its member-states into paragraph 62 of the UN General Assembly.

He also commented on Moscow's proposal to Moldova to refuse accession to NATO in exchange to its territorial integrity saying that Azerbaijan will never undertake such a step if proposed.

"Azerbaijan will never lower itself to a banal deal by giving the destiny of the occupied lands to any other country", he concluded.
