"There will never be national and religious problems in Azerbaijan", President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev told the opening ceremony of the Catholic church.
"The opening of this church is a great holiday for catholics in Azerbaijan and restoration of historical justice and the Catholic church built in Baku in the late 19th-early 20th century was then destroyed by Bolsheviks", he noted, according to Day.Az.
According to the President, the church opening proves high level of religious tolerance.
"The fact that the representatives of all peoples and religious live in our country as one family strengthens our country. We will further take care of representatives of national minorities. Today's event will play an important role for the future of Azerbaijan in its integration to the European structures". Aliyev noted.
The Catholic church was built at the area, which was presented to Vatican late president Heydar Aliyev in 2002.
