"The restoration of the language of the 2006 US State Department country reports on human rights is in favor of Azerbaijan. It proved that Azerbaijan is a leading country of the South Caucasus for its economic potential and geostrategic position," Eldar Namazov, president of Public Forum for Azerbaijan told journalists.

He said that Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry demonstrated right position and made decision on suspending bilateral security talks and postponing the visit of the delegation to Washington.

Commenting on the principles stated by Matthew Bryza, OSCE Minsk Group US co-chair, Namazov said there is nothing new in these principles. The political scientist analogous principles were publicized after meeting in Vienna last year.

"Bryza's statement shows that the parties are not close to reach an agreement. Therefore, Bryza said that problem of Kalbajar and Lachin, format and composition of peacekeeping forces and holding common votes in stead of referendum were debated. These issues are being debated for at least 7-8 years and have not been solved yet. If the same issues are debated today, the parties are not close to sign agreement," he said.

Namazov said there will not possibly be any improvement in the negotiations until the end of 2008 – presidential elections end in Azerbaijan and Armenia. APA
