President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan on December 22 received the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Rashid Nurgaliev.

Noting the presence of good relations between the Interior Ministries of two countries, the President stressed necessity of further development of this cooperation. "The Azerbaijan-Russia relations are successful and the Year of Russia in Azerbaijan served mutual understanding between our countries in numerous fields," he emphasized. The President stressed the links between law-enforcement bodies as significant for both sides.

"The fighting against criminality currently has acquired universal character and from this point of view, coordination of activities of the law-enforcers is necessary for our countries' safety, as well as for regional and international security. We have to jointly combat against similar threats, and therefore, the data exchange, mutual assistance and cooperation in other fields are necessary. The visit of the Russian Interior Minister to Azerbaijan, therefore, is of great importance," President Aliyev underlined.

The Russian Interior Minister estimated the existent relations between law-enforcers as efficient. He informed that during his visit he has discussed with his Azerbaijan colleague the issues of combat against transnational organized crime, international terrorism and illegal migration. The transnational organized crime has no borders, he stressed. "In 21st century, it is a serious threat for entire world."

Minister Rashid Nurgaliev expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the law-enforcement bodies of two countries. AzerTAg
