The UN General Assembly will discuss "frozen conflicts" in the territory of GUAM on December 4.

"If Armenia wants to prove that it is not indifferent towards events in our region, then official Yerevan representatives should take part in coming discussions over "frozen conflicts" in GUAM within the UN 61st GA," stated Head of Press and Information Policy Department at the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Tahir Tagizadeh. In his words, according to latest reports, discussions in New York will take place December 4. The Azeri MFA reports that a resolution is expected to be adopted as a result of the discussions.

It is not decided yet at which level official Baku will be represented at the discussions in New York, the Azeri MFA representative said. He underscored that the main goal of raising the issue at the GA is to attract attention of the international community to what is going on in the GUAM territory, i.e. regional conflicts, which "hamper national development of those states, as well as regional processes."

"On the other hand, the discussion in the UN marks the increased probability for the international community to take steps towards soonest settlement of conflicts," Tagizadeh stressed, reports the Echo Baku-based newspaper.
