The sides discussed head of state Viktor Yushchenko's visit to Azerbaijan scheduled for early in September, 2006. Mr.Azarov said official Kyiv hopes a document reflecting strategic bases of political and economic cooperation between the two states will be signed during the visit.

"Bilateral trade indicators show that Ukraine and Azerbaijan posses fundamental economic potential. Trade turnover between our states worked out at $334.37 million last year," Azarov said.

According to APA, the first deputy Prime Minister advocated holding the Ukraine-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission as soon as possible, "This would ensure to prepare the agenda of high level meeting as soon as possible."
