Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister and special envoy for Caspian Sea affairs, Mehdi Safari, on Thursday conferred with Azeri Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov on issues of mutual interest.

At the meeting, Safari expressed his satisfaction with the growing trend of bilateral relations and the progress in implementation of mutually reached agreements in various political and economic fields.

For his part, Khalafov declared his country's readiness to hold further joint economic commission meetings in Baku, adding that the joint commission working group should also meet in Azerbaijan.

Both sides urged the need to expand cooperation in the domains of transit of energy such as oil, gas and electricity as well as their transfer to the world markets.

Broader relations in the fields of transport, transit of goods, exchange of passengers, cooperation on quick completion of North-South Corridor, facilitating further investment by tradesmen and industrialists in both countries were also high on the agenda of talks.
