The ex-Minister said in the appeal presented to media representatives by his lawyers that he was imprisoned with alleged charge of coup d’etat nine months ago.

"They added new charged later on. They started a large campaign to damage my image when they sow they could not prove the charges against me. I supported building of national bourgeoisie in Azerbaijan. As a result of my activity, the Interior Ministry Department to Combat Economic Crimes known as "OBXSS" was liquidated. After the staff change in the National Security Ministry, groundless and biased information about me were sent to the state authorities in order to take revenge on me because of the removal of the OBXSS," the ex-Minister said.

Farhad Aliyev also said he was demanded to admit his involvement in the staging of coup d'etat.

"And when I refused to say anything about what I have no idea I was told that I will be accused of the murder of Elmar Huseynov and relations with Haji Mammadov. I believe my people and Elmar Huseynov’s relatives will respond to those trying to cover up this murder," he underlined.
