Leaders of countries making up the Commonwealth of Independent States have begun their informal summit with a dinner in a countryside restaurant on the banks of the Moskva River.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met and greeted his guests – the Presidents Emomali Rakhmonov of Tajikistan, Vladimir Voronin of Moldova, Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan, Kurmanbek Bakiyev of Kyrgyzstan, and Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan.

According to Itar-Tass, the Presidents will meet in the Kremlin on Saturday to continue an exchange of opinions and will then visit the Moscow Racing Court, where they will watch the Russian President's Grand Prix horse race.
