The U.S. Agency for International Development-supported Civil Society Project will hold an inauguration in recognition of new partnerships formed with Azeri Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the Hotel Ambassador on Monday, July 24, 2006.

As APA reports, Mr. Tahir Suleymanov, the Head of the Social-Political Agencies Department of the Presidential Office and Mr. James Goggin, the USAID Country Coordinator have also been invited to address the representatives from civil society, government, business, and international donor agencies.

The USAID-supported Civil Society Project aims to assist the citizens and government of Azerbaijan to further develop a dialogue while working towards the creation of a more representative and better functioning democracy.

The Civil Society Project is a five-year initiative, implemented by Counterpart International with the Urban Institute and the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law.

The partner NGOs that will be introduced at the event are based across the country. They work in the areas of policy research, legal assistance, youth development, gender equality, and economic and social development.
