The summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will kick off June 26 in Strasbourg, according to press service of the Azerbaijani Parliament's standing commission on international relations and inter-parliamentary ties.
The Azerbaijani delegation will be led by the commission’s chairman Samad Seyidov, AzerTAg reports. The session's agenda includes statement by President of the Parliamentary Assembly Rene van der Linden, observation of the referendum on the state status in the Republic of Montenegro, election of judges to the European Court of Human Rights, alleged secret detentions in Council of Europe member states, human rights of irregular migrants, freedom of expression and respect for religious beliefs, position of the Parliamentary Assembly as regards the Council of Europe member and observer states which have not abolished the death penalty, ratification of the Framework Convention for the protection of national minorities by the Council of Europe. The session will also discuss the issues concerning Azerbaijan. Co-rapporteurs of PACE for the monitoring of Azerbaijan Andreas Gross (Switzerland) and Andres Herkel (Estonia) will deliver their reports. The session will wrap up on June 30.
