Ukraine's Security Service declared Russian State Duma Vice-President, Head of Liberal Democratic Party, Vladmidir Zhirinovski persona non grata.
APA reports that several more Russian citizens were declared persona non grata. Ukrainian Interior Ministry stated that this decision was caused by Zhirinovski's statements and actions against Ukrainian state integrity, "This politician insulted independent state of Ukraine." Commenting on this report, Zhirinovski said he was surprised by this decision of the Ukrainian authorities adding that such steps are usually taken against persons for their actions against a state. Zhirinovski has many times made insulting and unfair statements against Azerbaijan too. Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Taghizadeh stated, while commenting on inclusion of his name into the list of unwelcome persons in Azerbaijan, that Azerbaijan has certain protests against Zhirinovski. "The high official of Russia should refrain from breaking relations with neighboring and partner states by making statements against them," Taghizadeh said.
