Visiting Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov conferred with the Iranian first Vice-President Parviz Dawoodi here on Tuesday.
According to Fars News Agency, during the meeting, Dawoodi pointed out that the two countries' cultural and historical commonalities paved the ground for the development of mutual cooperation, particularly in educational areas, a report released by the Media Department of the Presidential Office said. The Vice-President also stressed Iran's preparedness to develop cooperation in educational and training sectors with the Azerbaijan Republic and further viewed exchange of visits by the two countries' officials fruitful in this regard. Noting that a large number of Iranians speak in Azeri language, he said that the issue plays a significant role in the consolidation of the two states' relations. For his part, Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov reiterated that reinvigoration and development of ties with Iran sets a top priority in Azerbaijan's foreign policy and further called for the expansion of bilateral relations, in educational grounds in particular. Pointing to the formation of a working group which is to deal with educational issues of the two countries, he pointed to the exchange of university professors and students as well as cooperation of the Iranian and Azerbaijani researchers as an effective factor in introducing the two states' cultures.
