Passions are heating up in Yerevan around Samvel Karapetyan, a billionaire from Russia who has been in jail for almost six months. He attempted to move from his Tashir holding company into high-level politics, but somehow it didn’t work out.

The court is set to consider a motion to extend his arrest today, while Karapetyan’s supporters claim that his detention has already expired and that prosecutors are merely trying to come up with new arguments to justify extending it.

Meanwhile, the movement controlled by Karapetyan is planning to organize a "big rally" in defense of its sponsor tonight.
