The Monitoring Committee of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) held a hearing May 13 partial re-run of the Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

Ganira Pashayeva, member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, who attended the hearing, told APA that head of the PACE Election Observation Mission Leo Platvoet presented his preliminary report on the re-elections in Azerbaijan.

The final report will be discussed at the sitting of the Council of Europe permanent committee in Moscow in the end of May.

"In his report, Leo Platvoet positively assessed the 13 May partial re-run of the parliamentary elections held in ten constituencies and noted that there was a serious progress. German and Belgian members of the observation mission also said they witnessed serious progress in the elections," Pashayeva said.

Pashayeva also noted that PACE Monitoring committee co-rapporteurs on Azerbaijan Andreas Gross and Andress Herkel did not participate in the meeting.
