Slowly but surely, more and more new facts are emerging regarding the failed Emergency Committee. For example, it has now come to light that the prosecutor’s office at the Academy of Sciences is auditing all financial flows from recent years, both during Ramiz Mehdiyev’s presidency and afterward.

Mehdiyev himself, of course, makes no comment and does not respond to journalists’ calls. The old man is no longer up to it and likely does not even know how to act to his advantage.

Confess? He probably isn’t even considering it. Looking for options? He has none.

Perhaps he could consult someone—maybe with the very Politburo 2.0 he had planned to organize. One wonders how many of those 50 people would even answer his call now.

And, in any case, how many of these “young and promising” individuals are still alive? Perhaps the failed Politburo has long since gone underground, literally disappearing from sight.
