Azerbaijan-Iran talks on legal status of the Caspian Sea were held in Baku yesterday.

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry told APA that the talks were held between Mehdi Safari, Iran's deputy foreign minister and special envoy to the Caspian affairs Mehdi Safari and Khalaf Khalafov, his Azerbaijani counterpart, deputy Foreign Minister.

Besides, five Caspian states, Azerbaijan is having bilateral talks with Iran and Turkmenistan on the status of the Caspian Sea. Azerbaijan has signed treaty with the rest Caspian states-Russia and Kazakhstan on this issue.

The five-sided talks are to be over by signing of a Convention on the legal status of the sea.
