Regional cooperation, security, economic relations and situation in the region were in focus at a meeting of President Ilham Aliyev with Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday.

The two emphasized the importance of boosting economic ties between the two countries and collaborating in the area of science and technology, AssA-Irada reports.

President Aliyev spoke of Azerbaijan’s extensive experience in the oil and gas sector as well as science and technologies, citing the importance of working with Pakistan in these fields.

Aziz said his country is closely following the development of the Azeri oil and gas industry and Islamabad is working in that direction. "Learning and capitalizing on Azerbaijan's experience in the oil and gas sector is very important for us," the Prime Minister said.

Aziz said economic development in his country has been on upward trend. He also spoke of the Pakistani government’s efforts aimed at poverty reduction.
