A plot is unfolding in PACE that is very familiar to Azerbaijan. The organization upheld the powers of the Georgian delegation, but with a "probation period" and outlined the conditions that must be fulfilled in order to maintain representation.

Probation period, conditions... As if Georgia is not a sovereign country, but a repeat offender in court.

114 PACE deputies voted in favor, 13 against, and seven abstained. The Georgian delegation did not have the right to participate in the voting.

The West is making another attempt to interfere in the affairs of the region, now by blackmailing Tbilisi. The adopted resolution sets out the conditions for Georgia's ruling party:

release of political prisoners;

review of controversial laws;

appointment of new parliamentary elections.

Until the status of the Georgian delegation is reviewed in April, part of its powers in PACE are limited. In particular, the right to participate in the work of a number of committees, to join PACE election observation missions, to be a speaker, to be a candidate for the post of PACE president, and to hold the position of chairperson or deputy chairperson of committees and subcommittees.

Azerbaijan did not allow a similar development of the situation at the time. Our delegation itself essentially froze its participation in PACE even before the "vote" and "conditions" circus. Official Tbilisi, apparently, did not have time to do the same. As a result, the ruling Georgian Dream announced that the country was ceasing cooperation with PACE after the vote.

They are trying to undermine the South Caucasus again and again. The provocation against Georgia, the constant attempts to put pressure on Azerbaijan, and finally, the extension of the "observer" mission in Armenia.

All these events once again show that no one except the countries of the region is genuinely interested in stability, peace, and development around us.
