The European Union and Azerbaijani officials have failed to agree upon approval of a joint Action Plan developed as part of the EU New Neighborhood Policy.

"During the consultations recently held in Brussels, the parties decided to continue the discussions due to the failure to reach agreement on some issues," the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Tahir Taghizade, said. "The venue and timing of the next talks are yet to be ascertained," he added.

"The Action Plan was not expected to be approved after the second round of the consultations. It is necessary to continue the consultations to approve it," Taghizade underlined.

The spokesman said he expects the next round of discussions with EU experts will be prolific, AssA-Irada informs

The Action Plan includes issues on the EU-Azerbaijan cooperation in energy security, democratization processes and other matters. The specific issues that the parties failed to agree upon have not been reported yet.
