According to Azerbaijani diplomat it failed to take efficient measure to prevent Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijan has chosen the way of democratic society though it is at the beginning of this path yet. But the UN in my opinion has not justified the hopes of the Azeri people yet. It failed to take efficient measure to prevent Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan," Azeri Ex-Foreign Minister Husseinagha Sadygov stated. In his words, Azerbaijan has not succeeded in realizing the demands of the UN Regulations due to some circumstances, these being the military aggression by Armenia and the domestic development. Sadygov noted that "4 UN Resolutions on Nagorno Karabakh conflict still remain unimplemented." "The non-use of measures provided by the UN regulations against Armenia, the aggressor-state, and the elastic conscience of the UN caused Azeri people's doubt in UN's capabilities," he considers. At the same time the Azeri diplomat said one should confess that the UN is still the biggest and most influential structure among the universal international institutes. "That is why Azerbaijan should permanently and actively cooperate with the UN, strengthen and develop relations with its most important structures. During a meeting in June 2004 the Azerbaijani Ambassadors pointed out to the fact that 40 Armenians and only 3 Azerbaijanis work as international officials in the UN structures. We should introduce our diplomats into the UN various structures. This process needs thorough elaboration and special plan. The policy of the republic pursued within the UN should be coordinated with the leadership of the country," Sadygov stated in the interview with Zerkalo newspaper. /PanARMENIAN.Net/
