The European Union is ready to set up "bridges" between the stances of Armenia and Azerbaijan on the Karabakh settlement, the Commissar on Foreign Relations and the European Neighbourhood Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner said in a statement today during the news conference in Erevan.

"The sides have a lot of views and stances in the issue of settlement, and they need to be linked together for the moment, which EU may facilitate from its part. However, it is the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) which is to work over the issue in the first line", Benita Ferrero-Waldner said. She noted, assistance from EU in the Karabakh conflict resolve is possible through the strengthening of efforts by OSCE Minsk group co-chairmen.

"It is important, that the OSCE Minsk group would not only accompany the negotiations, but also introduce its proposals to the sides in regard to the conflict resolution", Benita Ferrero-Waldner said.
