Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov yesterday received the delegation of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations which represents 52 the most influential Jewish organizations from the US and other countries.
According to the information given to APA by the Press Center of Foreign Ministry, the Minister spoke about the strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and the US and the role of American Jewish communities in the development of these relations, as well as, touched on development of cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and Israel, relations between Azerbaijan and regional states and the role of our country in the international economic projects, including Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Arzurum gas pipelines and Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Gars railway projects that are directed to more expanded energy security and development of the infrastructure. E.Mammadyarov underlined that Islam, Judaism and Christianity have long been existed in Azerbaijan in the atmosphere of peace and tolerance and talked about great history of Azerbaijani Jewish community, its successful cooperation with ethic groups. E.Mammadyarov stressing that, the occupation of 20% of our territories by Armenia left more than 1 million refugees and internally displaced persons in difficult conditions and gave detailed information to the visitors about the negotiations for peaceful resolution of the conflict. Informing the visitors about the economical, political and social projects carried out by the government of Azerbaijan, the Minister expressed confidence that the mutual relations will be reinforced in this field. Head of the Conference Harold Tanner underlined that the US and Israel attach special importance to our country and said he hopes that the partnership between Azerbaijan and the US, as well as, the relations between our country and Israel will further develop.
