The conference "Reforms and cooperation's strategies" jointly organized by George Marshall Center and Georgian Parliament for parliamentarians of the South Caucasus and Baltic States started yesterday.

Georgia bureau of APA reports that, addressing the conference, speaker of Georgian parliament Nino Burjanadze stressed that, one of the important goals of the event is to give priority to the co-operation between our countries: "Now we are integrating into European Union, NATO and other structures. The decisions of parliament play important role in carrying out reforms and development of democracy in our countries. However, the conflicts in the South Caucasus pose obstacles to build the society we need. If all of the three South Caucasus states speak in the same political language no country can dictate imperial interests to us. The solution is through dialogue only."

Azerbaijani and Armenian representatives made speech in the first sitting of the conference. First deputy speaker of Milli Mejlis Ziyafet Askerov spoke about the democratic reforms effected in the country, measures taken for preserving national security, strengthening the army, instituting a state that meets democratic standards and further measures.

Z.Askerov underlined that, Armed Forces of Armenia has occupied 20% territories of Azerbaijan and more than 1 million people became refugees and internally displaced persons and millions were killed as a result of this aggression. He addressed to the participants of conference: "You say that we need collaboration. But there can be no collaboration until Armenia withdraws from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and stops supporting separatism."

Azerbaijani parliamentarians Azay Guliyev, Siyavush Novruzov, Elman Mammadov and others joined the dialogue held during the conference. E.Mammadov addressing to Shahgaldiyan representing Armenia and conference participants: "You propose collaboration, I am from Khojali where 700 innocent people were massacred by Armenians and 366th regiment of Russia. Since you need collaboration, let me and 1 million people like me return to their native lands. You can make this proposal after that."

Z.Askerov told Georgia bureau of APA that, they were interested in the problems of Azerbaijanis living in Georgia during their meetings with representatives of Georgian authority within two days. He also stressed that, he drew the attention to the artificial obstacles posed in Georgia-Azerbaijan frontier, shortfalls in distribution of lands, delay of revealing of crimes, employment of Azerbaijani specialists and etc.

According to Z.Askerov, Georgian representatives stated that they are aware of the abovementioned problems and take measures to remove them.
