"The PACE Monitoring Committee will continue the discussions on Azerbaijan within the winter session of the organization in January," said Asim Mollazade, an Azerbaijani delegate at PACE, who participated in the meeting of the Monitoring Committee on the results of the 6 November Parliamentary elections in Paris on Thursday.
According to Mollazade, PACE co-rapporteur Andres Herkel and head of OSCE Observation Mission Leo Platvoed delivered reports at the meeting. Appropriate discussions were held with the participation of the head of the Azerbaijani delegation at PACE, Samad Seyidov, Azerbaijani delegates Asim Mollzade and Bakhtiyar Aliyev, as well as deputies from UK, Russia and Monaco. Mollazade said that the participants of the discussions demonstrated different positions. For example, Herkel proposed not to confirm the mandate of the Azerbaijani delegation at PACE. Other deputies came out against it and mentioned necessity of the cooperation with Azerbaijan for continuation of the democratic reforms in the country. There was no single opinion on the issue. According to Mollazade, no resolution was made on the results of the meeting due to absence of the appropriate report. Trend
