"Security of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline will be implemented through special projects of NATO," said the special representative of the NATO Secretary General on Southern Caucasus and Central Asia Robert Simmons.

Though R.Simmons did not exclude that the pipeline may face terrorists attacks he underlined that NATO will carry out some trainings and seminars for the security of the pipeline however not being directly engaged in the issue.

Regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Simmons noted that NATO recognizes and supports territorial integrity of its members and partnering countries.

Speaking of Saloghlu projects implemented by NATO in Azerbaijan the representative said that a special method will be used for rendering ordnances harmless: "We want to apply a method, which will turn ordnances into fertilizers instead of burning them. If we burn those ordnances it will cause damage to the environment".
