According to him, during the visit he noted that the Greek side wants normalization of relations with Azerbaijan and seeks to setting up friendly relations based on mutual respect. «We assessed positively the visit of the Azerbaijan’s delegation to the northern part of Cyprus. The visit of Rauf Denktash and his son to Baku causes some coolness in our relations. However, we want mutual respect and cooperation”, Doros Kristodouludes said.

He also said, he is a member of the Council of Europe observation group and will arrive in Baku. “I am confident, free and democratic elections will be held in the country”, Doros Kristodouludes supposes.

Recently in the framework of the of the UNO General Assembly session in New-York the Foreign  Ministers of Cyprus and Azerbaijan met and discussed a wide range of bilateral relations and the international situation issues, the head of the Foreign Ministry information department Tair Tagizade told Trend.

«?zerbaijan builds its policy in regard to Cyprus based on the UNO, European Union, an a number of individual states position, which implies the necessity to take out the Turkish community of the Northern Cyprus from the state of humanitarian and economic isolation, and this is the first point.  The second point is determined by the readiness of Azerbaijan to assist both the Turkish and the Greek communities of Cyprus in overcoming the consequences of the long -drawn Cyprus crisis”, Tagizade added.

Touching upon the known events, which the Cypriot diplomats may cite, Tagizade noted, launching of the air flights between Baku and the Northern Cyprus has nothing to do with the  official position of Azerbaijan, it is a private commercial initiative. He also does not see any problems in private initiatives of businessmen, people of arts and a number of parliamentarians to visit the Turkish part of the island.

The Azerbaijani side, according to the Foreign Ministry official, submitted the action plan and expects visiting Baku by the experts from Brussels to discuss the issues of actions implementation in the framework of the New Neighborhood Policy.

«We were told nothing from Brussels, and we think any delays are of a technical character”, he said. Tagizade also noted, Azerbaijan builds its relations with all countries, with the Cypriot Republic in particular, based on good relations.
