Deputy Foreign minister Mahmud Mammedguliyev today held press conference regarding the negotiations on Azerbaijan's joining the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva on 27 June till 1 July.
He stated that, this meeting was held on all spheres differing from the previous ones: "The issues concerning the foreign trade were discussed before. Measures implemented since the last talks held in October last year, we were asked questions this time". According to Mahmud Mammedguliyev, Azerbaijan is to send the replies to the WTO by 1 August:" Becoming the member of WTO differs from the memberships of other organizations. This process requires serious changes in the legislation". According to the deputy minister, the document on internal assistance and export subsidies prepared by Azerbaijan was positively appreciated and was evaluated as progress in the way of joining WTO. Stating that, Azerbaijan can not remain outside of the organization covering more than 250 world countries, M.Mammedguliyev said of the reforms carried out in the country to give impulse to the process of membership to the organization. He told that the next 4th meeting is due to January-February next year. M.Mammedguliyev said that, tomorrow a meeting will be held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the talks, the discussions will be analyzed and future plan of measures will be drawn up. /APA/
