Azeri authorities back independence of media

The Azerbaijan authorities are keen on releasing the media from politicization.
The current situation in media does not cover fully all tasks set by the state.
Ramiz Mehdiyev, the head-of-staff of the Azerbaijani President's Executive Power, told Wednesday a meeting dedicated to improvement of activities of the press-services and public relations departments and held at the State Government Academy at the Azerbaijani President.
"We want to media to be independent and in condition to cover the events," he stressed adding that there should be neither opposition, nor pro-governmental media in the country.
