Azerbaijani kamancha performer Imamyar Hasanov will hold the "Window Overlooking the Sun" concert at the Vehdet Palace in Tehran on Dec. 3-4, the IRNA news agency reported. According to the information, Iranian musicians Hamid Mutabassim and Pezhman Haddad will accompany Hasanov. Iranian and Azerbaijani melodies will be performed at the concert.

Hasanov was born in Baku in 1975. He began playing the kamancha at the age of 7. As a child, he performed as a soloist with the Azerbaijani Orchestra of Folk Instruments. Hasanov is the author of the website www.kamancha.com, which provides a summary of the role and importance of the kamancha in Azerbaijani musical culture.

The virtuoso made a tribute to composer Vasif Adigezalov by playing the "Joy" suite before an American audience at the Silk Road Festival together with the Indiana University Orchestra.

Hasanov was invited to perform with the Washington Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in June 2006.
