By Laman Ismayilova Traditional costumes have always held a very important status in the society, by adorning them on every single mega event and any other special occasion. Azerbaijan's traditional clothing is very diverse, bright, and comfy. National arts reminds about itself in very ornament of costumes with artistic embroideries. Traditional materials for the clothes were silk, velvet and cashmere. The women dresses had elegant silhouettes and were cut to emphasizing flexible waist of Azerbaijani beauties. Elegance and beautiful elements to dresses were given by fur trim, embroidery, jewelry. They were decorated with intricate embroidery and beautiful golden band. Azerbaijani men's clothing was also very distinct. They emphasized the masculinity without restricting a man’s rapid movements. To zoom the trends observed in national dresses through centuries, Head of National Center of Costumes has presented a book "Traditional clothes of Azerbaijani musical groups". The scientific and methodological publication focuses on national costumes of professional and children's dance that emerged in Azerbaijan in different periods of time. Much attention is paid to areas of activity of outstanding folk artists, contemporary artists and fashion designers. Gulnara Khalilova dedicated her previous book to her father, famous scientist and academician Vidadi Khalilov. Khalilova's catalog of Azerbaijani national costumes, which comes as her third book, gained high appreciation in public. Khalilova successfully presented her national collection in Egypt, the library of Alexandria, the Cultural Center of Istanbul, and the cultural centers of various cities in the U.S. The designer created costumes for the classic Azerbaijani operetta "Arshin mal alan" by famous composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov staged at the 100th anniversary of the State Theatre of Musical Comedy. Her works are also very popular among Turkish public figures, representatives of culture and art such as Ajda Pekkan, Emrah Erdogan, Beyazit Ozturk, Soner Sarikabadayi, and others. In May, famous designer presented her new collection devoted to the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Baku on May 12-22. This collection is not the first work that Gulnara dedicated to sporting events. In 2015, her collection was presented in London as part of the Baku 2015 European Games. Gulnara is also a frequent guest of international fashion weeks. She is the two-times winner at Eurasian International Fashion Festival "Silk Road" held in China.
