By Laman Ismayilova Famous jazz pianist Elchin Shirinov and his trio have performed on the stage of the International Mugham Center in Baku. The gala concert took place as part of a jazz project devoted to the Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, Trend Life reported. Famous foreign and national songs, including Tofig Guliyev`s "Zibeyda", Emin Sabitoglu`s "Guller" as well as Beyonce's "Listen", Michael Jackson`s song "Human Nature" sounded on the Baku stage. The Elchin Shirinov Trio is an exciting project interweaving forward looking arrangements of traditional Azerbaijani music and brand new compositions. The trio consists of musicians Linley Marthe (France) and Stephane Galland (Belgium). Pianist and composer Elchin Shirinov was tutored by great musical talents such as Vagif Sadikhov, Aaron Goldberg, Kevin Hays, Jean Michel Pilc, Yakov Okun. In his formative years he was influenced by a number of great musicians, most notably Art Tatum, Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock and Brad Mehldau through an intensive analytic work on their music. He participated in many international festivals in Poland, Switzerland, France, the UK and China. Linley was the last bassist for the late, great keyboardist Joe Zawinul, and has been wowing audiences around the world with his incredible musicianship and deep groove. A master of electric and upright bass as well as piano, Linley's sound and style have made him one of the most sought-after sidemen in the world. Belgian jazz drummer Stéphane Galland started to perform with jazz musicians like Eric Legnini and Jean-Pierre Catoul. He released two albums with the Eric Legnini Trio when he was only 11.He plays African music, classical music and pop music. Galland has also been a member of BZZZ PüK, Greetings from Mercury, Ibrahim Maalouf, Jeroen Van Herzeele, K. D.'s Basement Party, Octurn, Tomas and Co, and Variations on A Love Supreme.
