A photo exhibition dedicated to the Albanian Independence day will be held in Baku on November 16-17.

"Land of Eagles", organized by the Albanian Embassy in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, and Arts Council Azerbaijan, will be held at Natavan gallery.

The exhibition will feature photographs reflecting the history, culture, tradition, and development of modern Albania.

"Land of Eagles" is the authentic Albanian translation of the country's name, which originates from the fact that eagles always soar majestically over Albania's high mountains and lakes. Since the 15th century, the double-headed eagle on the herb of Albania is known as a symbol of Albania's freedom and independence.

Public figures, representatives of culture and art, and diplomatic missions will attend the event.

The main purpose of the exhibition is to strengthen cultural and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Albania.

The official diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Albania were established on January 4, 1992, and the two countries are active in the fields of culture, tourism, agriculture, etc.

Albania which is situated in the Southeastern Europe gained independence after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire following the Balkan Wars in 1912. In 1944, the People's Socialist Republic of Albania was established in the country. In 1991, the Socialist Republic was dissolved and the modern Republic of Albania was established.
