Executive Supervisor of Eurovision-2012 Jon Ola Sand appealed to Eurovision fans. “Hello Europe! Last year, at their fourth attempt, Azerbaijan won the Eurovision Song Contest, as Ell & Nikki captured the hearts of European television viewers and professional juries with their song Running Scared,” he said in his appeal.

“Azerbaijan is the most eastern, and probably the most oriental destination the Eurovision Song Contest ever set foot. It is an opportunity for the rest of Europe to get to know Azerbaijan, its culture, its people and their hospitality. Since ancient times, Azerbaijan is known as the land of fire. To reflect that, and to show their Eurovision spirit, this year`s contest will be held under the motto Light your Fire!”

He says “No matter where the Eurovision Song Contest takes place, organizing such enormous event in just one year is always a challenge. In close cooperation with the EBU and various national- and international partners, Host Broadcaster Ictimai TV has prepared three amazing television shows and, without doubt, a memorable event!”

“I would like to thank the core team of Ictimai TV, their partners, sponsors and suppliers for their hard work over the past year. I also want to express my gratitude to you, for being part of the Eurovision Song Contest as artist, delegate, volunteer, journalist, fan or committed TV viewer.

Finally, I would like to wish all 42 contestants the best of luck. The stage is yours for an amazing performance!”
