“We have heard that Russia’s Eurovision representative “Buranovskiye Babushki” group wants to compete with us.

We are ready to meet with our Russian counterparts and show them our courage”, the youngest member of Lankaran-based “Neneler” (Grandmothers) folklore and dance group Sharaf Mammadova told . The oldest member of the group, Khanbibi Azimova, 76, said that the group pretended to participate in Eurovision-2013 Song Contest: “We are known not only in Azerbaijan, but Turkey, Iran and the other countries. Then why shouldn’t we show our skill in the famous contest and art competitions? We will certainly show our talent in the Eurovision Song Contest next year”.

The 42-year-old group has 6 members – Gizbes Ahadova (she is also a leader of the group), KhanimbaJi Guliyeva, Khanbibi Azimova, Gulchohra Mammadova, Gulbazak Karimova and Sharaf Mammadova. The oldest member of the group is 76-year old, the youngest – 52-year old. The “Neneler” performed more than 70 songs in Azerbaijani and Talish languages such “Ay lolo”, “Gel, gozelim, naz eleme”, “Mirvari gelin”, “Kinelim-kinelim”, “Almani alma, gelin”, “Yar baga geldi”, “Bulag bashinda”, “Gelin”, “Marali gonder bize”, “Yar-yar”, “Can gulum”, “Bulbuller okhuyur” song and bayaties.
