Construction project of ITGI gas pipe may give a start to realization of the Southern Corridor via gas transportation exported by Azerbaijan, Head of International Gas Infrastructures within Edison S.p.A. Elio Ruggeri said at the 18th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference Incorporating Refining and Petrochemicals.
To him, in 2020, Europe will not need gas import: But, it does not mean that we do not need Azeri gas. Decision on the choice of route is expected to pass within this year. We do not intend to transport gas through the territory of Georgia, we want to organize the transportation through Turkey and Greece.
Ruggeri said that TAP and ITGI are not competitors to each other: Moreover, ITGI will not impact on Nabucco negatively.
