The Georgian law-enforcement officers have detained members of criminal gang involved in theft of oil from the Baku-Supsa pipeline.
"Detainees Mikhail Mgebrishvili, Jemal Gogidzhanashvili, Zurab Giorgadze, Giorgi Chumburidze and Jemal Svanidze were engaged in theft of oil from the Baku-Supsa pipeline to sale it. The officers also confiscated the stolen fuel," Georgian Interior Ministry's Constitutional Security Department Deputy Chairman Soso Topuridze said at a news briefing today.
Partners to the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli project transport the oil via the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline.
ACG participating interests are: BP (operator - 37.43%), Chevron (11.27%), SOCAR (10%), INPEX (10.96%), Statoil (8.56%), ExxonMobil (8%), TPAO (6.75%), ITOCHU (4.30%), Hess (2.72%).
