Under the memorandum signed by Igdir province of Turkey and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, a gas pipeline will be laid from Turkey’s Igdir province to Nakhchivan, Turkish energy minister Taner Yildiz said at a press conference in Ankara.

He noted that geographical location of Nakhchyvan does not allow for large gas supplies to the territory from Iran and Azerbaijan. So, 500 million cubic meters  of gas is expected to be supplied from Igdir to Nakhchivan via this pipeline.

At the same time, the minister, commenting on the meeting held during a visit to Nakhchivan, did not exclude repeated meetings to reach final agreement on several issues. However, Yıldız said Turkey has certain conditions.

“This agreement may be realized if our conditions are accepted. Otherwise, this agreement may be delayed. However, during meetings with our Azerbaijani brothers we were convinced that both sides have positive attitude to the issue,” he said.

The minister did not disclose the conditions.

Turkish Minister said the final agreement on value of the gas from Shah Deniz-I between the parties has not been reached yet.

“The sides have more agreed points than not agreed. I supposed that this will be the last meeting on this issue, but it was not the case. I believe there will be no problems in relation to the cost of gas from Shah Deniz-I. Ther market prices both in Europe and  in our country is available. There are no problems with the price. However, it is difficult to talk about it until the agreement is signed. Each meeting marks certain progress,” he said.
