Last year the economic growth in Azerbaijan made 11%, said Milli Medjlis speaker Oqtay Asadov at a plenary session of the parliament on discussion of the report of the Azerbaijani government by results of the socioeconomic development of the country in 2008.
"Through the past five years the poverty rate in the country dropped from 45 to 13%. Real monetary incomes of the population grew 117% last year", said he.
He said the global financial crisis had a weak influence on Azerbaijani economy.
According to Asadov, the monetary reserves of Azerbaijan top $18 bln.
"In 2008 the budget revenues of the state grew 80%. The volumes of tax and customs revenues are growing every year. Last year the customs revenues rose 44%", noted the speaker.
