As of May 1 of 2008 the deposits of Azerbaijani population in the banks made AZN 1,593.7 bln, which is up 65.8% than the same period of the last year.
Day.Az reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee that AZN 753.7 mln (47.3%) were deposited in national currency, AZN 840 mln (52.7%) in foreign currency, which is up 2.3 times and 31.6% than the previous year respectively.
At the same time, 66.1% (AZN 1,053.6 mln) were deposited to private banks.
In May of 2008 the average manat rate against USD made AZN 0.83, against 100 Russian rubles-AZN 3.48, against EUR 1 -AZN 1.29, as compared to AZN 0.84, AZN 3.49 and AZN 1.27 of the beginning of the year respectively.
