Azerbaijan's Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev met with deputy Foreign Minister of Egypt Ramzi Azzaldin Ramzi.

According to the press service for the Azerbaijan's Economic Development Ministry, the meeting participants discussed current economic ties and prospects of its development.

Babayev noted that there is a good potential for development of the Azerbaijani-Egyptian cooperation. In this sense, great role is played by the joint Azerbaijani-Egyptian intergovernmental commission on economic, technical and scientific cooperation, founded in 2002.

The sides stressed importance of deepening bilateral ties, noting that the signed intergovernmental agreements create real opportunities for it.

Babayev informed the visitor about the activity of the Azerbaijan Investment Company. He noted that AIC executes tasks on development of the non-oil sector of the Azerbaijani economy.

The company's participation in implementation of projects abroad is envisioned.

In turn, the visitor noted that his country observes the successful development of Azerbaijan. He said Egypt attaches special importance to relations with Azerbaijan and is interested in deepening economic cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by the Egypt ambassador to Azerbaijan Yusif Ibrahim al-Sharkavi.
