By the end of this year, International Telecommunications Union will consider Azerbaijan's appeal to orbit a communications satellite.

The coordination of the satellite is expected to be set during the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-07) (Geneva, Switzerland, October 22 to November 16, 2007).

Azerbaijan Communications and Information Technologies Ministry told APA-Telecom that under Resolution 1227 by the ITU Council-04, the WRC-07 will consider regulatory and technical issues related to frequency allocations, the results of ITU-R studies on compatibility and allocations and regulatory issues related to the Earth exploration-satellite (passive) service, space research (passive) service and the meteorological satellite service in accordance with Resolutions 746 (WRC-03) and 742 (WRC-03).

In late 2006, Azerbaijan sent an appeal to launch its national communications satellite, APA informs.
