Azerbaijani wrestler wins tournament in Istanbul

The 27th Republic Cup in youth wrestling started in Istanbul.

160 sportsmen of nine countries including Azerbaijan are taking part. The first day defined the winners in weight categories below 50, 66, and 96 among freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers.

Azerbaijan is represented only among classical wrestlers where both wrestlers from the country managed to gain two awards. In the weight category below 66 kg, Jeyhun Aliyev won gold beating Ukraine’s Ruslan Kutrintz. Meanwhile, Hajimurad Chopsiyev (96 kg) won bronze.
