Azerbaijani named best boxer of the year

Azerbaijani Mahammadrasul Majidov has been named the best boxer of 2011 by the International Amateur Boxing Association, AIBA.

Majidov won a gold medal in the world championship in Baku and ranked 2nd in the WSB League.

In other nominations: Tajik Asror Vahidov became the best young boxer, Ukrainian Dmitry Sosnowski the best coach, Irish Michael Gallagher the best referee. The awarding ceremony will be held in London on November 27.

Azeri Shaban Shahpalangov was named the best boxer of 2010.
