The Azerbaijan national boxing team have ranked third in the medal count of the world championship in Baku. Azerbaijani boxers garnered two world medals, including a gold.
Gold medal came from Mahammadrasul Majidov weighing in at over 91 kg, while Teymur Mammadov grabbed the silver in the 91 kg class.
Majidov has also been announced the best boxer of the world championship. Ukraine topped the medal table, followed by Cuba. Four Azerbaijani boxers Elvin Mamishzade, Heybatulla Hajialiyev, Teymur Mammadov and Mahammadrasul Majidov booked a place at the 2012 Olympic Games.
Earlier, another Azeri boxer Soltan Migitinov from Baku Fires professional club also earned the right to compete in the Olympic Games.
The championship which ran from September 26 to October 8 brought together 570 boxers from 113 countries.
