Shahdag Running Festival held for second time

A Shahdag Running Festival has been held for the second year to promote a healthy lifestyle and increase interest in sports among people.

The two-day competition was organised by the joint initiative of the Shahdag Tourism Centre and the Mountaineering Sports Club.

About 500 runners competed in four categories for first place in vertical running and trail running.

At the end, the winners were given various gifts and medals by the Shahdag Tourism Centre and other organisations participating in the organisation of the event.

During the festival, various running competitions in fun costumes were organised for the adults and children who participated in the event.

Within the framework of the competition, musical entertainment programs were shown to the participants.

Recall that 200 runners took part in the competition held last year. At this year's festival, the number of participants reached 500.

The Shahdag Mountain Resort is ideal for tourists of all ages. Well-known as the country's first ski resort, the resort is located in Shahdag National Park, 32 km off Gusar District, 2,350 metres above sea level.

The resort plays an important role in the development of winter tourism in the country. Local and foreign tourists are showing great interest in winter tourism. All conditions for this have been created in Shahdag.

In 2023, Russia's TurStat analytical agency listed the Shahdag Mountain Resort among the top 5 ski resorts in the CIS.
